deacons

Vision

As appointed and ordained deacons we are a service ministry; we are first committed and obedient to God’s Word, obedient to the presiding pastor & Biblical principles while striving to meet the spiritual and emotional needs and see to the welfare of the members of the Oak Grove Baptist Church congregation and the surrounding communities.

Mission

  1. As ambassadors for Christ and representatives of the pastor, we serve in capacities designated by the shepherd appointed and anointed by God to lead the OGBC.

  2. Leading by example, our ministry models the principles of I Timothy 3:8-13, encouraging others to adopt these Christ-like traits.

  3. Uplift the pastor in his duties. Stand by the pastor and protect him from any enemy that might attack him (Nance p.14)

  4. It is a deacon’s God-given duty to help the pastor fulfill the vision God has given him and to fully submit ourselves to God and His under-shepherd.

  5. We serve in a spirit of excellence with integrity and compassion for our congregation, our community, our nation, and for the world.

Goals

  1. To be disciples and to give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4)

  2. To continually study to show ourselves approved unto God as we increase our knowledge through systematic study of His Word (II Timothy 2:15)

  3. Applying our gifts for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ through equipping others for teaching and mission work as it pertains to the overarching vision of the church (Ephesians 4:11-12 & Matthew 28:19)

Model the character of Christ so that others may see our good works and emulate the Christ-like characteristics in us so that God will be glorified. (Matthew 5:16).
